From the Armchair

Review: Unique Feet- Men’s Socks from Unique Sheep edited by Laura Lough
  • While this book has some really great patterns, it may not be the perfect book for the basic socks patterns for men in your life. Thankfully there's a great pattern range. Some of my favorite patterns are:
Mr. Blue Sky Maypole Cable RibDiamond Moss
Heraldic Socks

Review: Knit to Flatter by Amy Herzog

One of the Best Books of the Year So Far according to Amazon. Ranked 5 right now in the Crafts, Hobbies and Home category.

I can't recommend this highly enough! I think its also handy to have Amy's Fit to Flatter Craftsy Class. The two are a great pairing.

Product Review: The Knitter’s Helper
Row counter that you wear as a ring! Very handy!

Off the Needles

Made up the pattern as I came to each section.
Bound off with - Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off But I only did this extra yarn over every 2nd or 3rd stitch.

I am going to work on writing up this pattern, re-knitting and publishing it.

------------------

On the Needles

I'm making mine using 6 skeins (425 yards of)
Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk Aran that I got on sale at my LYS a long time ago.

I'm on my 5th skein 1 week in! Love how quickly this is knitting up.

Mitts of my own design using Opal sock yarn
Finished 1 (except for the thumb). Need to cast on the second

Wicked Smaht Sox with the Wicked Smaht self-striping yarn by Emily of Fancy Pants Fiber Etsy Shop

Another pair of Stripy Socks with Paton’s Kroy.

Brainstorming

I'm starting to the holiday knitting bug.
I really like these Pleated Ballet Flats by cocoknits.
I also like this Loofah or Washcloth pattern by Jen Kobrick
Can't wait to have the mental capacity to start my Twigs and Willows Cardigan

Life in Focus
I talked about a Photo Tour of the North End of Boston I did with two friends.
Here are some fun photos from that trip.

We started out with an exercise using Shutter Priority to freeze the action of the water. It worked well for this, but I've still had a hard time replicating this with other non-steady motion.

View of the Zakem bridge from the Rose Kennedy Greenway

Let's see your summer (seasonal) photos. Come share them in the Summer Photo Challenge thread.

Greenway Open Market - I'll be going on August 31st

The Greenway Open Market is open on Saturdays from May 25 through October 26, 2013.

It's early but I'm excited for NY Sheep & Wool in Rhinebeck NY in October and SPA in Maine in February.

Crafty Adventures
I was fortunate to scrapbook with some of my very best girlfriends a couple weeks ago. In an attempt to get "caught up" on my scrapbooking, I am employing these cool Project Life supplies- a system created by Becky Higgins

We also started decorating our guest room. Eventually it will have a travel theme with some handmade art and decorations from our favorite vacation spots. This new quilt will tie things in nicely.

On a Happy Note

Knitting is my happy place. Especially when life is stressful.
Also enjoying the new season of Project Runway.

A happy note for you!

Tune in for a 25% off discount code for Brenda Castiel’s beautiful patterns.
